10 things people do to stay healthy.

Ashtanga does all 10, in one morning.

1
Track

Real proof: mornings practised, resting heart rate, sleep. Checked at week 0, 6 and 12.

2
Get stronger

Strength from your own body weight, built at 30 and kept at 70.

3
Partners

Like-minded people beside you. We struggle together and progress together.

4
Sleep

Early practice, slow breath, early nights. Students tell us sleep changes first.

5
Eat with purpose

No diet. You eat lighter because you want to feel light on the mat tomorrow.

6
Calm the mind

90 minutes, no phone, only your breath. Calm you train, not buy.

7
Hot and cold

Heat from inside, cooled by your breath. Your own warmth, no machine.

8
Mind-body movement

Core, balance and breath with movement. The original, 100 years old.

9
Together

A quiet room of people who show up. Belonging without noise.

10
Traditional

A 100-year-old method, taught by an Authorized teacher.

One morning vs four workouts

To cover these 10, most people need a run, a gym, a Pilates class and a meditation app. Or one morning.

Boonchu Tanti
Authorized Level 2 by R. Sharath Jois

Boonchu is a former mechanical engineer. He found Ashtanga yoga in 2008, while living in the US.

He has studied with Sharath Jois in Mysore since 2008. He hosted R. Sharath Jois in Bangkok in 2018 and 2024.

In 2013 he opened AYBKK in his hometown, Bangkok. He also created The Yoga Comics, a Facebook page about the eight limbs of yoga. AYBKK has been the home shala of Bangkok’s Ashtanga community since 2013. Several of Bangkok’s Ashtanga teachers practised and assisted here before opening their own shalas.

His teaching looks at how each body works, and at the student's own commitment. Every body is different, and so is every practice.

Jamsai Tanti
Authorized Level 2 by R. Sharath Jois

Jamsai was a tax consultant. She found Ashtanga in 2015, during chemotherapy for breast cancer, with Boonchu as her teacher.

The practice gave her strength back, so she left her job to study with Sharath Jois in Mysore. She received Authorization Level 2 from him in the 2018 to 2019 season.

She runs AYBKK and teaches led, Mysore and private classes. She also organised Sharath Jois’s workshop in Bangkok. Her teaching puts breath, clear alignment and an active vinyasa first.

She kept practising through both of her pregnancies, into the Advanced series, and still practises and teaches as a mother.

What is Mysore style?

  • It is self-practice. You move through the Ashtanga sequence at your own pace, with your own breath.
  • The teacher walks the room and gives each student individual adjustments.
  • Beginners are welcome. We teach you from zero.
  • This is the traditional way Ashtanga is taught, as in Mysore, India.

Your first class

  • New to Mysore style? Start with a monthly package, so the teacher can guide you step by step. Drop-in is for visitors who already know the sequence.
  • Plan to practise at least 4 days a week, and book your classes in advance.
  • Bring your own mat and a towel, and wear clothes you can move in. Come early, so you have time to settle in and talk to the teacher.
  • No phones, no photos and no talking in the shala during practice.
  • After practice, clean your mat and the floor around it with the spray we provide.
  • The shala is closed on full moon and new moon days.
